• Emerson felt offended that he couldn't be himself
• Vanity- a desire to look good and Malice- desire to do evil
• "Don't act that your good, when you are not"
• Emerson doesn't like people do things just to present themselves as good
• Virtues- behavior showing high moral standards.
• "I don't need someone to give me a pat in the back just because I did my own job"
• "For non conformity the world whips you with its displeasure"
• I've agree with the sentence above since in our world, if you don't  follow along as everyone in the program has then you are going to get disapprove and negative.
